Our History}

In 1932, Frank Clair Pruett and his wife, Mary, opened their first studio at 52nd and Walnut Streets in Philadelphia. Frank and Mary worked non-stop during those post-Depression days, and during World War II, they took countless photographs of loved ones to mail to servicemen overseas. It was then that families in Philadelphia first turned to a photographer they could trust, and a new tradition for them was born – Clair Pruett.

Clair Pruett has been a name families can trust with capturing memories for 80 years in Philadelphia. With its 11th studio in its history opening in Chester Springs, PA, in April of 2012, Clair Pruett continues to serve many customers with the best in photography and videography.

In 2012, Clair Pruett will proudly celebrate their 80th Anniversary of their first studio opening in Philadelphia, PA. With the slogan, “A Philadelphia Tradition for 80 years”, the celebration will kick off with a robust Social Media and Advertising Campaign along with special contests, editorial coverage and a Grand Celebration in late 2012.
